ASA is committed to making the Annual Meeting accessible to all. ASA will make arrangements for sign-language interpreters, sighted guides, other communication tools, or transportation assistance (just to name a few services) for meeting registrants. Please use the "Accessibility Services" portion of the registration form to identify your needs. Meeting Services will contact you to discuss options. You may also contact Meeting Services directly via email. Requests must be received by July 1, 2019. Attendees who do not make advance arrangements for services or equipment can inquire at the Meeting Information Desk onsite. Every reasonable effort will be made to assist attendees onsite however, ASA may not be able to provide all services or equipment due to availability or the time required to obtain them.
ASA will also have a loaner scooter available at the Meeting Information Desk in the New York Hilton Midtown. Loaner scooters are available on a first come, first serve basis and must be returned to the Meeting Information Desk at the end of each day. If you would like to order a scooter or wheelchair for your personal use and to be delivered to your hotel, please call Scootaround at (888) 441-7575 or visit their ASA website.
Should a Problem Arise While You are Onsite at the ASA Meeting
If you have any problem or negative experience related to accessibility, including issues with housing, meeting sessions, travel throughout the city, restaurants, or any other accessibility related issue, please report the issue to the Meeting Information Desk. An ASA Meeting Services team member will record the concern and will be your advocates in working to resolve the issue whenever possible. By informing us of any concerns that arise we can work toward making the ASA Annual Meeting more welcoming to sociologists with disabilities, and make the cities and hotels where ASA meetings are aware of accessibility issues.
Area of Rescue Assistance
An Area of Rescue Assistance will be established and clearly marked with signage on each floor of meeting space in both the New York Hilton Midtown and Sheraton New York Times Square. In the event of a hotel evacuation during meeting hours, hotel staff will check these areas for attendees who require assistance.

- Copies of the Final Program in enlarged print are available upon request from the Meeting Information Desk.
- The Annual Meeting app is VoiceOver compatible.
- Each presentation or session should be designed and conducted with the full participation of all in mind. ASA requests that all presenters review the Guidelines for Accessible Presentation and take the steps necessary to make all programming accessible to their respective audiences.
ASA requests that all participants refrain from wearing perfume, cologne and other fragrances, and use unscented personal care products in order to promote a fragrance-free environment for the benefit of attendees with multiple chemical sensitivities.
All Gender Restrooms
ASA will designate all gender restroom facilities at both hotels. These restroom facilities are available for use by all persons, regardless of their gender identity. The facilities will be marked with green door signage. Please help make these facilities and this meeting an inclusive space for transgender and gender non-conforming attendees by respecting the right of all genders to use them.
Comfort rooms have been designated for use by attendees requiring a respite from meeting activities. The Comfort Rooms are Harlem on the 4th Floor of the New York Hilton and Turtle Bay on the Lower Level of the Sheraton New York.
ASA has designated a room for parents with lactation needs. Lactation rooms are Holland on the 4th Floor of the New York Hilton and Bryant Park on the Lower Level of the Sheraton. Additionally, there is a Mamava pod installed on the 4th floor of the Hilton.
